Meaning they have to complete certain many credit hours to complete their degree. Similarly, course are divided into two major category: Core courses and Major Courses; Core covers subjects with foundation while Major covers subjects with specialization in the field; and there is another portion of Elective Courses which student can take to explore other topics of their interest. These degrees and education tuition and fees ranges and varies with various factors like: domestic or national student and International student, located city or state, program/degree type, university ranking, public and private type etc.
The US academic calendar year runs from September to May and can be divided into 2 academic terms also known as semester typically of 16-18 weeks or 4-5 months. Some institutions may operate on a quarter or trimester systems. So basically, based on their academic, financial and personal need they have the right fit off education for them in the States.
